A love for the Pontiac Hood Mascot

The first time a Pontiac hood mascot came into the camera's view was at the Bishop, California October Fall Colors Car Show. It was a beauty. Since then, every Pontiac Hood Mascot we come across, the camera captures. The Pontiac Hood Mascot stands strong. It is fierce, facing the wind, driving down the road, lining the parking lots so everyone can enjoy the history of this striking emblem. Check out the Pontiac Collection at car-tografi, where it all about the part.

Car Show Notes

With 2020 finally gone, we have decided to focus on some of our best photography from10 years of shooting car shows. Dragging past car shows around like we did last year is not part of the equation. Hopefully, our beloved car show venues will be back soon, but we are looking forward to giving attention not only to the ride but to some of the photos that showcase what makes a classic so memorable, the parts.

Falcon Notes: If you haven't already heard, The National Falcon News is going all-digital; we received our last magazine subscription in December 2020. You can find the website link below.  Hoping the July 7-10, 2021 Nationals in Texas, August 20-21, 2021 in Rhode Island, and the Sacramento Nationals in October will still be on the calendar.

CLASSIC IDENTITY

They sit on the hood, facing the wind, beautiful sculptures forming an identity—The Hood Mascot.  Ralph Nader proclaimed them unsafe, a hazard to human life, missiles on the road, so by the 1960's they disappeared with only a few weathering the destruction. So when you see the graceful elegance sitting on top of his hood, the camera can't help but take the shot. The car show's beauty is the chance encounter with the Pontiac, Ford, Oldsmobile, Packard-history taking you back to when the hood ruled the road.

The Plymouth Mascot and The Pomona Swap Meet

Classic Hood

The beauty of the Pomona Swap Meet is the fact that you never know what you may find. Our visit to Pomona’s March 2012 meet the Chrysler Plymouth Mayflower caught the camera’s eye.  From 1928 through the ’50s, this windswept ship recognized as the tall ships or rocket ships were encased in plastic, wrapped in chrome, created with art deco designs, for more Plymouth hood mascots check out our photo-lines at car-tografi where it is all about the parts.

As of this date, The Pomona August 2020 car show is still on; for past shows, click the pic below.
