One of the first car shows we attended for The Ranchero and the Blue Q was the Grand National Roadster Show at the Fairplex in Pomona. As amateur photographers, taking photos of just about everything paid off. This skull held by a whimsical dragon wrapped in smoke and flames was the start of the skull collection. Nothing better than a car show can’t wait for this country to get their act together so we can start the engines.
The classic ride has so much to offer especially when it comes to paint. Pin the stripe with blue tones was the awe-inspiring rule when the camera took the close up. Attending car shows has been a fun adventure but sometimes it's not about the classic its about the paint.
We beat the heat going to Pomona on Sunday. This swap meet car show was full parking on arrival and there was a great crowd. The venue seems to be working on getting into the parking lot faster and changing up the structure of the car show with new pavement and closing off parts of the entrance for easier walk in. The show had the usual suspects including the Ranchero sitting on a trailer in need of some love. Volkswagens define the entrance at Pomona and this little bug was a colorful ride the camera captured on the way out. The Chevy crew seemed to dominate center court and of course the back-end was filled with an awesome line-up of car club perfection. On the swap meet side there was a lot of stuff for anyone looking for anything. Our purchase a new fire extinguisher for the truck, everyone should have one. Pomona Parking Tip: If everyone had their $12.00 parking lot fee ready the line to get into the lot would move faster. There is usually no waiting to get into the venue and that fee is $10.00.

Autobooks/Aerobooks in Burbank, California has an amazing selection of books for the road and in the air. Saturday we stopped by for their morning meet up and it was a pleasure to meet Sean Cridland and Hurley Haywood promoting their book on Hurley Haywood's automotive Porsche racing history. Picked up the book for a friend and had a wonderful conversation with Mr. Cridland who is an awesome photographer and wrote the book, so great to meet someone with such an amazing talent.
