Tale of two car shows

The Classic Auto Show

The Classic Auto Show, March 2019 was a complete change from the previous two shows at the Los Angeles Convention Center, which was an inside venue. The new arena for the Classic Auto Show was the OC Fairgrounds, which is both an outside and an inside venue, giving this year show a different ambiance.  Looking forward to seeing how this classic car show develops. Photographs from The Classic Auto Show is in the GALLERY.

2018 Car Show Season

Notes from 2018

The Ranchero & the Blue Q was created to show off some of the outstanding rides we come across while attending or showing off the ‘65. This year started as usual with the Grand National Roadster Car Show; we have been lucky enough to be granted a media pass for the past few years and feel honored to attend next year. The GNRS hit all expectations for a car show; the classics that demand attention throughout the venue is extensive. This year we had a fun time meeting with some of the speed innovators and authors showcasing The Rolling Bones. Find out more about their story, outlined in the Book of Gow, which we happily purchased in the post, The Rolling Bones Hot Rod Shop & Something to remember me by.

Car Show Find

Picked up this lunch box at the Pomona Swap Meet, took it over to the GB shop, Mr Barris was sitting in his office, no one was around. I walked over, he asked if he could help me and we started to talk and finally I brought the lunch box into the conversation and asked if he would sign it. What a great afternoon, talking classics with an amazing automotive icon.

Cruisin' 4 a Cure Classic Car Show
September 23, 2017

The beauty of a car show is that we all get up before sunrise, dust our cars and get on the road, pull up a lawn chair, sit back and enjoy the wonder of a car show. Cruisin' for a Cure is a great show. It is worth the drive, for a really good cause. It saves lives and we can enjoy the ride with the process. That said the Ranchero was elusive. Sitting in the back end of the car show was this awesome '59 almost missed it. Thanks to the owners of the fabulous classic. We never keep the license plates out of respect for the car but breaking the rules. Thanks FOR POP for bringing your 1959 Ford Ranchero out for all to enjoy. Look for car show photos sometime this week. Check out the start of the show on Instagram

Still Saving Lives Car Show June 3, 2017

The 50's showed up at the Still Saving Lives Car Show

Loving the Ford Ranchero is not always easy at a car show. We usually get to most shows early so we can shoot the show with the least amount of people surrounding the ride. Of course this means waiting for the polish up and wipe down that takes another 1/2 hour. It is amazing how much cleaning goes on at the beginning of a car show. The better the ride the more the wipe down. Most cars should be at the show before the car show opening giving a clue as to how many classic will be in attendance so when we found this classic Ranchero tucked in the corner it was a happy surprise. The '63 was just driving in when we were leaving. This years show was not at the park it was at the parking lot down the street. Hot, must have been the word of the day, happy we got there early.  Ken the owner of this ride said it was an old police cruiser and showcased the blinking light show on the back window, looking good Ken thanks for bring your classic ride to the show. We are always looking out the Ranchero. Look for car show photos of the Still Saving Lives this week.
